Rising Damp the symptoms....

Damp musty odour, peeling wallpaper, flaking paint and timber decay are among some of the most common noticeable symptoms of rising damp.

Failure to treat the problem effectively, could result with living in a property that smells unpleasant, unattractive and difficult to sell to a potential purchaser.

The problem may well be found by the mortgage valuer and a discount off the house sale price could be negotiated by the purchaser to pay for the remedial works.

In our opinion it's better treated sooner than later.

It can be tempting and maybe a 'quick fix' to try and attempt to cover up the areas of damp with special paints, but the damp will often find a way around the painted wall area at some later date.
Only by the effective prevention of the rising damp - up the wall area - control and cure these problems.
Over many years their have been a wide range of different methods and products used to stop damp from rising which have proved effective.

Some of the methods are known to have disadvantages like carrying large amounts of water and chemical mixture into the wall areas, prolonging the drying out period. Some of the methods used are not cost effective and are very slow in the application process.

Rising Damp - The Remedy

The New Dryzone Damp Proofing System

Dryzone is a special damp-proofing cream which is introduced along the mortar course into the fabric of the building. The cream is installed at regular intervals by injecting into pre-drilled 12mm holes. The cream then diffuses to form a continuous water-repellent barrier which prevents the rising of damp up the wall area.

In all cases the new damp proof system should as far as practically possible, be installed in accordance with the British Standard Code of practice for Installation of Chemical Damp Proof Courses BS6576(1985)

The Dryzone system is recognized by the Property Guarantee Administration so each damp proof installation can be awarded an insurance- backed guarantee on completion if required.

The Dryzone Cream is BBA approved which means has been tested and been given a British Board Of Agrement Certificate.
